Eagle River, Wisconsin

Founded in 1857 and located in northern Wisconsin, Eagle River City is known as the “Snowmobile Capital of the World.” This small town of 2.7 square miles and a population of 1,400 hosts the World Championship Snowmobile Derby every January.

Attractions to this winter wonderland include the Wisconsin Hockey Hall of Fame as well as the Eagle River Stadium.

Average temperatures in Eagle River City are 10 degrees in the winter and a mere 65 degrees in the summer. Winter activities include ice fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling.

While tourism is the main industry with its many resorts, Eagle River City also has economic boost from its logging industry. The closest airport, Rhinelander-Oneida County, is 26 miles away. Appleton is 128 miles to the south and Madison is 197 miles south of Eagle River City.
