Grand Junction, Colorado

Grand Junction, Colorado is located in Mesa County, which lies on the western edge of the state.  It is home to almost 140,000 people and is nearly 200 miles west of the state’s capital, Denver.  The city sits inside the Grand Valley is situated near two rivers: the Colorado River, and the Gunnison River.

In Grand Junction, the summers are seasonably warm, reaching average high temperatures in the 90s. The winters are very mild and normally the city only experiences light snowfall.

If you are looking to explore the outdoors and the history of Grand Junction, explore the Old Spanish National Historic Trail.  There is also the majestic Book Cliffs just outside the city, and if you are interested in native plants, there is also the Western Colorado Botanical Gardens.

Grand Junction is known as Colorado’s wine country. There are more than a dozen wineries in the area to check out, and you can sample a large variety of delicious samples.  Most of the vineyards are close enough together to visitors bicycle from the one to the next!  Horseback riding and golfing are also big local attractions.

Grand Junction is a city that is surrounded by beautiful natural wilderness.   It’s no wonder that so many people like to call it home.
