The state of Massachusetts is located in the northeastern part of the United States and borders the Atlantic Ocean. It was the sixth state to enter the Union in February, 1788. Boston has been its capital since its constitution was drafted in 1780 as the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

The climate of Massachusetts consists of cold winters (30 degrees in January) and warm summers, with the warmest temperatures occurring along the coast, averaging 74 degrees in July.

Massachusetts encompasses 7,840 square miles and has a population of nearly 6.5 million, which is the 13th most populous state. Industry and tourism are the major business demographics. With Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, and Nantucket along its seaboard, Massachusetts is a popular site for visitors.

Logan International Airport is located in East Boston, but there are an additional 53 regional and local airports within the state. There are hotels, inns and bed and breakfasts aplenty for visitors.
