Ruidoso, New Mexico

Situated adjacent to the Lincoln National Forest in the county of Lincoln is the village of Ruidoso, New Mexico. The village population is over 11,000; but the Ruidoso Micropolitan Area consists of 4 suburbs and a population of 21,000+ residents.

Ruidoso is a mountain resort town with tourism as its main industry. The Sierra Blanca Regional Airport, located about 15 miles northwest, serves the area. Located where the Sierra Blanca mountain range and the Sacramento Mountains converge, the village’s alpine scenery attracts those interested in skiing, particularly at the Ski Apache resort. The Apache Indian tribe owns the resort as well as the Inn of the Mountain Gods resort where visitors can enjoy the hotel, casino and golf course.

The weather in Ruidoso is consistent with typical mountain area climate, dropping into the 20’s during the winter and reaching a high of 80 in the summer months.
